The national government is aiming to launch a major campaign that will focus on improving the COVID-19 booster campaign of the country amid the increase in COVID-19 cases for weeks.
In a media briefing, Department of Health (DOH) officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said the new campaign called "Pinas Lakas" will be launched on July 26, Tuesday, with President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. taking the lead in encouraging more Filipinos to get their booster shots.
"Instead of a wider vaccination rollout, we will instead reach out to the communities so that we could increase the vaccine take-up," Vergeire said.
The campaign, according to Vergeire, will target around 397,000 doses of vaccines per day in order to reach 39 million boosted individuals before the end of the administration's first 100 days in October.
Data from the DOH showed that 71.4 million have received their primary series, and 15.7 million have received their booster shots.
